Meningitis Vaccination for Hajj and Umrah
Able-bodied Muslims are expected to perform the Hajj, a pilgrimage to Mecca, at least once in their lives. The health requirement for entry into Saudi Arabia is the conjugated meningococcal (ACWY) vaccination and a certificate proving this has been administered is a mandatory visa requirement. Our pharmacist at Malcolm's Pharmacy can administer the vaccine and provide the certificate of proof of vaccination which complies with Saudi government regulations.
This vaccination may also be recommended for other countries in Africa south of the Sahara. Travellers who will be having close contact with people are more at risk. A single dose of ACWY vaccine reduces this risk.
You do not need a prescription for this vaccination and the vaccination is not normally available on the NHS. Therefore, a fee is required to pay for this service.
